Dear Friends,
If you’re like tens of thousands of other Spanish teachers around the world, you might be considering kicking off the year with the Wooly music video ¿Puedo ir al baño?
It’s a classic first-week video, but this year we want to show you another way.
Starting today, we are releasing completely overhauled lesson plans for ¿Puedo ir al baño? and its wildly popular prequel La lucha de la limonada.
|
Wait, didn't you already release these?
We did! But not like this!
Over the past couple of years, we’ve released a lot of lesson plans, and we’ve been paying close attention to what’s working and what needs improvement. Thanks to all the feedback from teachers like you, we took everything we’ve learned and used it to rebuild these two units.
|
What's new?
¿Puedo ir al baño? is still a 5-day unit, but now with a fully redesigned lesson plan and over 50% of the language rewritten to better support all four proficiency levels (especially Novice Low and Mid learners).
La lucha de la limonada has been expanded to a 3-day unit, featuring a full day of new activities, improved scaffolding, optional assessments, and a cultural extension on aguas frescas.
eLearning Nuggets: Both stories include overhauled Nuggets that mirror the updated lesson plans. Now your students can engage in rich interpersonal activities in class and then reinforce the exact same language through independent work.
|
Why this matters
If you've used these units before, you’ll immediately notice how much smoother and more intuitive they’ve become. Activities flow better. Language targets are clearer. And students will be more engaged.
If you've never used these units before, this is the perfect time to give them a shot. They're two of the most beloved stories in the Wooly library, and now they're easier to teach than ever.

One of the Lucha gallery walk slides where students guess why Justin had to go to the bathroom.
|
Why spend a full week on a single music video? Won't students get bored?
They won’t. In fact, these might be some of the most engaging days of your year.
Students only watch the video twice. The rest of the time, they’re getting compelling input and using recycled language to build real communication skills by retelling and discussing the story in Spanish.
These aren’t just lesson plans. They’re a launchpad for confident, beginner-friendly storytelling.
|
Who are these plans intended for?
All of your students. Seriously, all of them.
We have written these plans at 4 different proficiency levels so you can use them with your beginner Spanish 1 students through Spanish 4 and beyond.
Between these two units, you’ve got 8 full days of leveled, engaging prep totally done!
