Today Juan Carlos Pinilla and I are releasing our second children’s book, Mundo de pan.
Mundo de pan is a 64-page illustrated Spanish reader written with only 33 unique Spanish words. It’s designed for Novice Low and beginning Spanish students, and many students can read the entire story in 5 to 10 minutes.

Mundo de pan picks up the day after our music video ¡PAN!
In the original story, four friends desperately want bread with butter. For reasons that make very little sense, they decide to go to a Mexican restaurant to get it. Instead, they’re served chips and salsa and guacamole, while becoming increasingly frustrated that nobody will bring them the one thing they actually want.
The story was built around basic restaurant language like ¿Me trae...?, Pido..., and Quisiera...
By the end of the video, their mission has failed.
Mundo de pan begins the next day. They still want bread. But Bo, the leader of the group, has a new idea for how they might finally get it.
A whole Spanish book in one class period
One of my favorite things about Mundo de pan is that many students can read the entire thing in a single class period.
Our students need these small wins.
They need the experience of reading an entire story within the limited time available in a class period.

I can tell you the Spanish is simple, but it’s probably more useful just to show you. The book is built around full-color, two-page spreads with highly controlled language. Here are a few actual pages from the story.

What is the book about?
In this beautifully illustrated, full-color hardcover children’s book, Bo and his friends are trying to find bread. Unfortunately, they keep looking in all the wrong places. Now Bo has a crazy idea that might finally get them what they’ve been looking for.
Does it require prior Wooly knowledge?
Mundo de pan takes place immediately after the music video ¡PAN!, but it was written to function as a standalone story. Students do not need to have seen the original video first.
Is it available digitally?
No. The only way to read Mundo de pan is by purchasing a physical copy. It is not available through a Wooly license.
What age group is it for?
Although Mundo de pan is technically a children’s book, it was written with our typical Wooly audience in mind. It works well with middle school, high school, and adult Spanish learners too.
