This week’s activity teaches a concentration activity that is perfect for reinforcing any type of sequential vocabulary such as numbers, days of the week, etc. It’s a great supplementary activity to the video Las Excusas, since as you’ll see in the video below, it’s perfect for teaching ordinal numbers.
Another great thing is that, unlike most activities, this one works fantastic in large groups. A small class can do it, too, but I think a class of 20 to 30 is perfect.
Alternate rules not mentioned in the video:
1) Certainly if a student says the wrong word, then you should ring the bell. However, you’ll notice I did not ring it for poor pronunciation. I generally don’t correct pronunciation in activities like this, since I think it teaches kids to fear speaking.
2) The same student is not allowed to say two numbers in a row.
3) If you see any patterns developing, such as the same student always being the one to say “tercero”, then ring the bell.
